Grøn/Bruun has assessed the funding provided to technological development within the fields of big data in Horizon 2020. A total of 76 projects was identified with a total EU contribution of EUR 193 million. The distribution is as follows:
/ German institutions are the most successful in obtaining funding for big data projects with 16% of the total funding.
/ The Dutch institution Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht the most successful institution with total funding of EUR 4 million. Fraunhofer and Universidad Politechnica de Madrid participated in most project with nine project participations each.
/ The largest part of the funding is allocated to private companies that have received EUR 71 million or 36,8% of the funding.
/ A total of 491 organisations have been funded in 76 projects so far.
