/ Frontrunners in Horizon 2020 space

Grøn/Bruun Research and Innovation Bureau has assessed the funding provided to technological development within the fields of space in Horizon 2020 under LEIT-SPACE calls (H2020-EU.2.1.6.). A total of 296 projects were funded a total EU contribution of EUR 508,5 million. The distribution is as follows:

/ Out of a total of 59 participating countries, French organisations received the highest EU contribution combined. French institutions received EUR 95,9 mill. This is 18,8% of the total funding. FR, DE, IT, ES and UK combined received 72,7% of the total funding.

/ The German research institution Deutsches Zentrum Fuer Luft – und Raumfart EV (The German Aerospace Center (DLR)) has received the most funding – a total of EUR 22,3 mill. In 40 project participations.

/ More than half of the funding is allocated private companies, followed by re-search institutions, which received 27% of the funding.

/ A total of 1014 institutions have been funded in 296 projects so far.
